Ash's ride for Lilyroo
Hello Family & Friends
You are all aware that in 2013, Nikki and I were blessed with the birth of our beautiful son. His arrival at the Royal Woman’s Hospital in Parkville was a life changing event for us. Every time he mashes cream into the carpet, fills his pocket with yoghurt, or puts my keys in the toilet, we are reminded of how lucky we are! Seriously though, the joys outweigh the stress by far.
The journey to parenthood, however, wasn’t always easy and we experienced some challenging years. The support offered to us by the Royal Woman’s through the highs and the lows is a key reason I am taking up the challenge of cycling from Adelaide to Melbourne.
The inaugural Lilyroo Ride is a 1068km 7-day charity bicycle tour from the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Adelaide to the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne. The Lilyroo Fund was established in March 2014 by friends, Kristie and Pete Lockyer to celebrate the short but perfect life of their daughter Lily by raising funds for the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne NISC unit and raising awareness of premature birth.
I have committed to raise a minimum of $3500.00 to complete the ride and this is where I need your help. All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a receipt via email. Click 'Donate Now' to make a secure online donation.
All donations are greatly appreciated and will go to the Lilyroo fund in support of NISC unit at the Women’s.

On 26th March 2014 Lily Mary Lockyer was born prematurely at 23 weeks and 6 days gestation. She was born too young to live a long and fruitful life and tragically passed away one day later. Her parents, Kristie and Pete Lockyer, set up the Lilyroo Fund to honour Lily’s life by raising money for the Royal Women’s Hospital (the Women’s) Newborn Intensive Special Care (NISC) unit.
The Lilyroo Ride is a fully supported bicycle tour departing the Women's and Children's Hospital, Adelaide on Saturday 5th April 2015 and arriving at the Royal Women's Hospital, Melbourne 7 days and 1100km later on Saturday 11th April 2015.
If you would like to donate to one of our riders or volunteers, please click on their profile page and use the donate button on their page.
